Short & Sweet

By Ameer Ammar
Man of Honor is a $10 DLC to Mafia The Old Country, it adds about 2 hours of main story content and expands the game's open world "free-ride" mode with new side activities, awards and collectibles.
I am glad to report that this DLC is genuinely a great time, it is very short and sweet. The 2 new chapters take place right in the middle of the main story, and now starts automatically after Chapter 5 if you decide to replay the main game. Enzo and Cesare team up with a young Ennio Salieri, who you should recognize as the Don of the Salieri family by the time of Mafia 1. Like the rest of Mafia The Old Country, the writing is consistently on point here. You see far more of Salieri's more sleazy personal here, and the brutal lifestyle of the Mafia in general. In that way, it adds more to Enzo's own arc from the main game, and how he feels about the life he was practically forced into. Pretty much every character from the main game is here, making sure the DLC doesn't feel out of place with the rest of the game in any way.
The mission design is where this DLC does a strong job, each mission has something to make it stand out. My personality highlight was the final mission of this DLC, Mafia TOC desperately lacked a proper heist and this DLC provides possibly the best heist in this franchise. It is a seriously awesome mission and easily my favorite mission in the entire game. The way it progresses and pays off certain character arcs in the middle of it is also expertly done, My hope is that this exact mission is what they base the entirety of the next Mafia game's design philosophy.
Free-ride is a mode that I honestly barely touched when I first played the game, popping into it now with this DLC, there is plenty to do and explore. Ennio Salieri provides a series of missions and challenges that give free-ride a needed level of depth. So now rather than being a largely empty world with no real combat encounters, it feels way more full and with plenty of things to do. I personally still don't care too much for free-ride but for people who want to spend more time around this game's rendition of Sicily, the additions here make it much better.
FINAL VERDICT
Overall, this is a fun DLC that adds about 4 hours of content, with two of those hours being story mode additions. For ten bucks, it's a no-brainer if you already enjoy Mafia The Old Country and what it has to offer. It is more of the same while adding some additional depth to the story and its ties to the larger franchise.
