Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty REVIEW

Incredible Expansion

By Ameer Ammar
It took me way longer than I expected to get this expansion done, about 25 hours to finish the main quest and almost every gig (except 2) and every side quest, This is an expansion I've waited for a very long time, since 2020, So it had much to live up to, and I am glad to say it exceeded all of my expectations.

I really didn’t expect PL to be as long as it is, it actually clocks in to be almost longer than the game’s main quest if you ignored all side content for that, So no wonder it took 3 years to make, with all the gameplay changes 2.0 did, this expansion takes full advantage of every single thing Cyberpunk have had going for it and so much more

Quests The quests in Phantom Liberty are why you must play it, from actual horror sections on par with Alien Isolation, to heists that feel so much more grand than anything in the main game, the first two hours of this expansion is quite possibly one of the most impressive set pieces I’ve ever seen an RPG pull off, It’s all incredible. Side content They are stellar, 11 gigs (done 9) were all fantastic and actually harkened to Witcher 3 contracts, each had actual depth that the original game’s gigs tended to lack, I think they’re a must play, and the side quests ranged from hilarious to really emotional storylines, I don’t wanna spoil them but you should try doing everything, it’s worth it.

Story The story is why you must play this, İdris Elba as Solomon Reed delivers a 10/10 performance here and tbh every one else does as well, I really think this is a story I will be spending a very long time processing, the ultimate conclusion to V’s story with the new ending is one of the most heartbreaking yet perfect ends to a game I’ve seen, I really think they did an amazing job tying this narrative together with the new ending, and PL’s ending itself also hit, Songbird and Reed’s tales won’t be ones I forget any time soon, Maybe CDPR’s best writing ever.

FINAL VERDICT
Not only is this one of the best expansions I’ve ever played, it is up there with the best games I’ve played this year, if a DLC could get nominated for GOTY, this would be there. It is probably the best gaming experience I had this year.
